EthiCraft Fair Trade Stall Holder

a warm welcome to the Playful Market to Jovita &

Ethicraft is a social enterprise founded from the desire to help the marginalized and under-privileged by supporting their efforts. They do this by working with local organisations and micro enterprises in the third world country through trade. Ethicraft believe that one of the best ways to help people break out of their vicious cycle is through empowerment.

Silk Lotus Fair Trade Stall Holder

so excited to welcome back
the wonderful Joanna from
Silk Lotus was founded by Sandra and Joanna while working in international development in Laos. Both fell in love with the fabulous textiles and original jewellery
of local artisans and wanted to find a way to support local producers and their craft,
as well as putting something back into the communities.

“Laos is an amazingly beautiful country” says Jo, “but the vast majority of people are very poor. We wanted to find a way to help preserve and promote the beautiful products and traditions whilst also providing sustainable income opportunities”.
“And we wanted to do more” says Sandra, “by also giving back to the communities in which we both lived and worked. Its really important to us to support projects that make a difference in people’s lives. We are proud to have provided further training for two young Lao women, and to now provide funding for victims of unexploded ordnance to get prosthetic limbs”.

Villiage Spirit Fair Trade Stall Holder

so very excited to have & new to the Playful Market
with their stunning
paper chains
made from an indigenous plant in Nepal
way up in the Himalayas
using a paper making technique dating back to the
12th century

along with many many
gorgeous products including the hand wood block printing
& some stunning cashmere
& felted items
& awesome folk art
Mithila folk art

this is what Jane & Lucy the co-founders say about
We pride ourselves on selecting high quality and well designed products from around the world and we have a commitment to fair and ethical trade practices. Currently we are focused on Nepali hand craft including Lokta paper, felt, cotton and cashmere products. We design some of our own products, while aiming  to preserve the traditional skills of the Nepali craft producers.  We work in with established fair trade organisations and  businesses who have proven to have  fair  practices.
Many of the Nepali artisans are women from remote and mountainous areas who are given the chance to employ traditional skills in their own homes, enabling them to generate essential  income. This type of work empowers women and encourages them to stay in their villages with their families instead of traveling to other cities and countries to work.   We hope you enjoy our products and appreciate the skill involved as much as we do.
